Kalon and East Fork for NYCxDESIGN

Material, craft + natural form

Kalon has partnered with East Fork Pottery to present a joint installation for NYCxDESIGN. Opening on May 18, the showcase will feature our newest collection, the Bough Collection, alongside a collection of new vases and Spring glazes by East Fork. Together, the work tells a beautiful story about material selection, craftsmanship and the inherent variation of natural forms.

“We wanted to design a collection that had a communal feel, creating forms that are inviting and expansive. And we were deeply inspired by the functional beauty of Sashimono and Shaker woodworking traditions and the elemental form of the trestle table.” Michaele Simmering

In development for over two years, the Bough Collection was designed for our own home, and consists of a long table, a bench and a stool. The collection is made of solid ash with cast iron hardware details, and is inspired by Japan’s Sashimono tradition, playing on the tension between the heavy slabs of wood and the slender, sculptural legs. It is the first time both brands will show their work during NYCxDESIGN.

Opening dates: May 18 – June 3, 2018
Location: Calliope, 349 West 12th Street, New York NY 10014
