Kalon x The Panafold
Home – exploring the spaces we find shelter
February 19 – March 19, 2025
At its simplest, home is a physical place. But home can also be a person, a community, a state of mind. Some would say that the only true home is that which we find within ourselves, shaped by our experiences and the connections we cultivate. In the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that tore through our beloved city in January 2025, the concept of home is further complicated, its emotional and philosophical weight deepened. As many of us mourn the loss of those structures, objects, and neighborhoods that once held us and our histories, others are compelled to examine how we live—what we carry with us, what we leave behind, and why.
Co-curated by Michaele Simmering, co-founder of Kalon, and Annabel Graham, editor-in-chief of The Panafold, this group exhibition—spanning photography to painting to furniture and object design—is a meditation on containment, comfort, selfhood, perception, and the topography of our inner and outer environments, by turns fragile and resilient.
