CHAIRS 2007-2026

October 4, 2026

CHAIRS 2007–2026 brings together nearly twenty years of Kalon through a single lens: the chair.

Beginning with the Isometric Chair, one of the studio’s earliest designs, the exhibition spans production pieces, prototypes, experiments, and work still in development. Among them are the Hut-Hut, an archival editioned rocking chair conceived as an experimental work, and the recently released Material Studies I Dining Chair, which brings wood and metal together in a new expression of the studio’s ongoing material investigations.

Seen together, the chairs trace an evolving approach to form, material, construction, and the act of sitting. The exhibition also brings into view the less linear parts of the design process: ideas revisited years later, experiments that led elsewhere, and pieces that never moved beyond the prototype stage.

Across nearly two decades, recurring concerns emerge—solid material, visible construction, proportion, utility, and an interest in making furniture that is both rigorous and lived with.

CHAIRS 2007–2026 was presented at the Kalon showroom on October 4, 2026 as part of Los Angeles Design Week/End.
