Kalon presents a preview of forthcoming work for INTRO/LA, offering an early look at two new collections that expand our material language. Installations are on view both in the Kalon Showroom and at INTRO/LA down the block. On view are select pieces from Cube + Void—a study in form, scale, and negative space—and the first iteration of the Element Bed, which introduces brushed aluminum into Kalon’s practice. Accompanying the new furniture pieces are textural circular seat cushions, upholstered in richly hued, large-scale ribbed corduroy. Together, the works signal a broadened exploration of elemental materials and tactile, deeply colored textiles.

Installed as a focused presentation within the Kalon Showroom, the preview highlights sculptural presence, material progression, and the evolving direction of upcoming releases.

INTRO / LA
Initiated in 2013, the INTRO series invites a select group of designers and brands to present their work in a non-traditional format that prizes intimacy over scale. Eschewing the conventions of the trade show, INTRO is arranged as a holistic design-space, integrating a diverse series of installations into a cohesive interior. The exhibition provides a platform for designers to engage with peers and public alike, resulting in a sampling of forms and production processes and acting as a vernacular gauge of the industry itself.
