Kalon presents Kalon x Reath — Special Collection, a showroom installation that reimagines the Rugosa Sofa, Daybed, and Chair through a collaboration with LA-based Reath Design. Rooted in the Narragansett home that originally inspired the Rugosa Collection—a layered, multigenerational space shaped by accumulated pattern, color, and use—the installation explores how textile and form can deepen the lived-in spirit of the designs.

For this presentation, Rugosa’s clean-lined, sculptural forms are upholstered in a series of patterned textiles—florals, stripes, and archival prints—chosen to evoke the warmth, informality, and generational layering of the original house. Together, the pieces blur the boundaries often drawn between minimal and maximal design sensibilities, revealing how domestic spaces naturally hold both restraint and exuberance. In doing so, the installation gestures toward a more expansive and human approach to living with design.
