Curated by Inhabitots, ‘The Modern Family Lounge’ at Dwell on Design will spotlight Kalon Studios’ work. Several pieces of Kalon’s latest work will be mixed in with the very best in contemporary design for kids and the family. The lounge welcomes modernists of all ages to try out the latest playhouses, toys, and pint-size furniture and kids’ room accessories.
Modern Family at Dwell on Design is also hosting panels on Saturday by Los Angeles architect Barbara Bestor and interior designer Erica Islas and father David Lai.
ZOOM! : Design for Kids

ZOOM! provides a snapshot of contemporary design for children focusing on a select young, emerging creative design and art scene. Zoom! is a series of individual rooms furnished exclusively for children. The focus of the exhibition is on the living environment of children featuring object that surround kids in their daily lives.
The exhibition was originally shown in Milan before moving to Graz (2011 Design Capital of Austria) for Austrian Design Month.
Natural Child magazine launches it’s first issue in April 2011 with Kalon Studios on the cover and a 6 page feature article on the studio. The magazine is doing a giveaway of a Caravan crib to celebrate the launch. Details at NaturalChildWorld.com

The lounge will display work by designers Kalon Studios (USA/Germany), COLLECT furniture (Denmark), Perludi (Austria), AL2869 (Itally), Lilliane (Netherlands) and artist Letizia Cariello.

ZOOM! : Design for Kids

ZOOM! provides a snapshot of contemporary design for children focusing on a select young, emerging creative design and art scene. The exhibition is staged in a 200sqm elegant apartment on the third floor of a residential building, located in an exclusive area in the heart of Milan. An enormous exhibition and the only one dedicated to design for children during this year’s Salone, Kalon Studios will be debuting the Echo Toddler Bed at the show and have most of its line on display.
The exhibition will move to Graz, Austria following the close of the Milan show. Beginning May 7, ZOOM! will be on display at the Wiesler Depot in Graz for Design Month. Please visit the Kalon Studios Facebook page for more information.

Milanese art critic and curator extraordinaire, Paola Noe, has put together an exhibition of her favorite art and design for children never before seen in Milan. Kalon Studios has the honor of being selected for the exhibition. Please stop by.
On display will be work by Letizia Cariello, Peter Oyler and Kalon Studios.
Letizia Cariello’s will be showing her installation “In the shadow of an artwork (without any leafy oak)”. Cariello’s work has always been related to sleep and dream dimensions, which she read as imaginative moments of tales and of diverse and various options than the realty of the waking.
Peter Oyler is an American furniture designer with a passion for color. Unduetrestella will be presenting his “Rip+Tatter” seat which is entirely realized with industrial recycled cardboard.
Kalon Studios is a young design studio from Los Angeles, CA. The Caravan Crib will be on display. The Caravan Crib is inspired by ancient circus caravans, and plays with classical form and color. All of Kalon’s products are made exclusively from non-toxic, eco-sustainable materials and are entirely manufactured in the USA. Every single object is handmade, according to the traditional furniture production of New England.
